Indian Split Pea Soup

Instructions

1 Cup yellow split peas (soaked overnight) - I usually use 1 1/2 cups 4 Tbsp oil 1 large onion chopped 1 clove garlic crushed (or 1/8 tsp garlic powder) 1 cinnamon stick 1 tsp curry powder 1 tsp turmeric 1 tsp cumin 2 tsp salt 2 medium tomatoes ( I usually omit or add in a can of crushed tomatoes) 5 cups water Simmer 2-3 hours
